The post office

This photograph dates from 1920. The legendary building of the post office of Quetzaltenango. This building exists up to our days. A few years ago I entered the building and observed how the architecture is conserved. Unfortunately, no photographs can be taken.

Centro Histórico -Photo by Marieke Smulders

Don’t let appearences fool you! Even if it seems as if these houses are abandoned there is a is a special group designated by local authorities that have to authorize any modifiication done to the outside of these houses in order to maintain a colonial touch un Xela’s “Centro Histórico” . Many of these houses have been completly modernized on the inside! We invite you to take a look!

And by the way, we’re a few hours to celebrate Christmas.

Una más de las fotografias de Fachadas de Iglesias en blanco y negro de noche, ¿que piensas de esta?

Y por cierto, ya estamos a unas horas de celebrar Navidad
