Very very cold by José Moreno

The past few days have been in very cold Xela, many under 0, but you do not know but the temperatures drop much more for days to -8 ° F in January so if you live in Xela has to be with a lot of clothes and drink always hot.

Certainly few days left for the end of the world (according to the Mayans) we are in the countdown, what do you think of this?

3rd Quinceañera? by Luna McCarthy

I just had my 45th birthday and it got me thinking. Quinceañeras are awesome and I want one. Being a foreigner, I missed out on all the fun, of course. Would it be possible to have a faux-Quinceañera? Or the third anniversary of a Quinceañera?? I really just want the dress.

Snazzy Shoes by Luna McCarthy

I posted about the fabulous boutique tilde when they opened last year, The Hip Place to Be!. As today is Fashion Friday, I thought I would provide some photos of the amazing new stock available in the store right now. Stop in to see them and peruse the inventory or eat some fabulous food. They also show movies every Monday night. You can find all their information (hours, address, etc.) on their Facebook page here: tilde.

Lazy Morning by Sergio Dominguez

Still dressed for sleep in this cold season, it feels great to be under the warm sunlight after a rainy night. Waiting for the news paper to come, I sit and see people passing by, and eventually bark at the roof cats. Like my shirt?

The Hip Place to Be!

Tilde1 by Luna McCarthy

Xela has a few new businesses opening up around town lately, one of which is Tilde, Urban Boutique. This place is filled to the brim with coolness…from everything from the funky, hip (and often handmade) clothing to the art on the walls, to the delicioso wraps and beverages (yum), not to mention super stylish accessories for both guys and girls. The owner Dorit L’Beat, has utilized not only her own terrific sense of global style but working with many, many different artisans, has combined all that is hip and cool and groovy, in Xela and around the world, in one store! Located right behind the Muni building in the historic centre, it’s easy to find and SO worth a look, listen and taste! Find out more about Tilde at their Facebook page: Tilde Boutique Urbana

Cinderella for a Day

Friday, July 1st, 2011

What a lovely tradition to celebrate a girl’s fifteenth birthday with a beautiful dress, a party and all of her family and friends surrounding her!! Akin to the Sweet Sixteen parties or debutant balls of the United States, the Quinceañera is a formal announcement of a girl’s transition in to young adulthood; the process of becoming a woman. Party and formalities aside, the dresses alone make every girl look forward to this special night!

Gorros by Luna McCarthy

Ball caps are super popular here and at times you will even see women in full traje wearing a ball cap to shelter their eyes from the sun!
