Woops. I think we may have all gotten this look as we have traveled and taken photos as tourists. This is the look that says “Do NOT take my picture”. Although I try to be culturally sensitive, I certainly have captured this look once or twice here in Xela, usually by accident. One of my most interesting memories was when an indiginous woman started yelling at me in her language, I am assuming for taking her picture. The truth was, I already had my photo framed and was just about to snap when she walked into camera range, saw me and began shouting. I felt badly of course and completely understood her point of view, although not the words she was saying. I only felt worse, that I could not properly apologize.
