Xela was quiet on the Saturday night before elections. Ley seca has mandated that there is no drinking of alcoholic beverages the night before the big event. Although, after having spoken to many people, including lawyers, bartenders and various other locals, the law itself seems to be a little vague. Some people have said no drinking 48 hours before the election, some have said 24 hours before, while others have said that the 48 hours is actually separated, with one day before elections and one day after. With no consistent answer to be had, these wine glasses remain empty.
