Waiting

small family waits patiently for a Semana Santa alfrombra by Luna McCarthy

Guatemalans are semi-famous for their patience. Here, a small family waits patiently for a Semana Santa alfrombra to be finished, as others scurry around them preparing for the procession.

I wonder if I could learn how to be patient if I traveled to Guatemala? Of course, with my impatience problem, I’d have to stay for a month!

  • Leif, I’ve been here 3 years and STILL learning about patience!! One month may not be enough! 🙂

  • That’s a nice black and white photo.

Estoy de acuerdo…I’ve been catching-up on your entries for the past week or so, but this one tugs at my heartstrings. Makes me think of the indigenous families that wait for relatives outside of the exit to La Aurora aeropuerto…some of them are there all day…several days…all week, waiting for relatives who are supposed to arrive. The patience, especially that of los indigenas, amazes me.
Nicely composed foto, Luna, and great story to go with it.

  • Ah, thanks for the compliments Eric!

You’re right…the patience of the people here blows my mind!! I have learned much and yet have SO much more to learn from them!
